There’s something special about a room full of people who truly love what they do and even more special when that room is filled with the very businesses that make Maine, well… Maine.
This past Monday, I had the chance to attend the Season 5 launch party for the Maine Famous Podcast, hosted by April Shaw Beaudoin and it was every bit as inspiring as you’d imagine.

Held at the stunning Nina June in Rockport Harbor, the setting alone set the tone for the evening. Right on the harbor, the space felt equal parts cozy and elevated the kind of place where you immediately know you’re in for a good night.
I went with my friend Birdie, and from the moment we walked in, it felt like stepping into a who’s who of Maine’s small business scene. There were familiar faces everywhere. Owners of some of my favorite local spots that April has featured over the years. It was one of those moments where you realize just how connected this community really is.
And that’s largely because of April.

She has played such a huge role in shaping and strengthening this network of Maine businesses and giving them a platform, telling their stories, and helping people understand the passion behind what they do. The Maine Famous Podcast isn’t just about business, it’s about people, and that’s what makes it so compelling.
Of course, we need to talk about the food… because wow.

The hors d’oeuvres by Stacy Whitley were next level. I genuinely couldn’t stop eating them. And the Gin Fizz? So refreshing, so perfectly done, it was the kind of drink you wish you could recreate at home (but know it wouldn’t be quite the same). The flower arrangments by Flaura were absolutly stunning.

One of my favorite parts of the night was getting to connect with business owners I hadn’t met before but already knew of. That’s such a Maine thing. You feel like you know people through their work long before you actually meet them. And then, of course, there were the familiar faces of friends who are also business owners making the whole night feel like a mix of networking and a reunion.

April truly has a gift for choosing who to feature. Every episode she puts out is thoughtful, interesting, and gives you a deeper appreciation for how these businesses came to be. I especially love hearing how so many of them collaborate with each other. Supporting, uplifting, and growing together. It’s something you don’t see everywhere, but it’s alive and well here in Maine.

Beyond the podcast, April has also published three books highlighting Maine businesses from Midcoast to Downeast and she’s now expanding into Southern Maine. It’s clear she’s just getting started.

The night wrapped up with a champagne toast, where April thanked her team and all of the businesses she’s featured. It was a moment that really captured what the evening was all about, gratitude, community, and a shared love for Maine.
She’s already made such a name for herself here, but if this night was any indication, she’s only going to keep growing and bringing Maine businesses along with her.

You can listen to the Maine Famous podcast on Spotify, Apple, Amazon and you can watch on YouTube! I, for one, can’t wait to dive into Season 5 and see what she has up her sleeve next.
Because if there’s one thing I know… the scuttlebutt is going to be good.
