Family Getaway at the Abalonia Inn in Ogunquit, Maine

One of my favorite things about Ogunquit is that you can park the car and simply enjoy the town on foot. That's exactly what we did during our recent stay at the Abalonia Inn, and it made for the perfect family getaway.

We arrived in Ogunquit early to do some exploring before check-in. With hungry kids in tow, our first stop was Footbridge Lobster, where we enjoyed some delicious fresh Maine lobster. After lunch, we wandered through Perkins Cove, popping into some wonderful local shops. Salt & Silver had beautiful jewelry, while Maine Originals offered great Maine-inspired apparel. Of course, no family outing is complete without ice cream, so we wrapped up our afternoon with a sweet treat from Ayla's Sweet Wonder.

When it was finally time to check in, we headed to the Abalonia Inn and immediately loved the location. Situated right on the main drag of Ogunquit, it puts you within walking distance of just about everything the town has to offer.

The first thing we noticed was the cozy firepit out front. Since it was one of those cooler Maine summer days, we were excited to gather around it later.

The kids, however, were focused on something else entirely. As we walked toward check-in, they spotted the hot tub and couldn't contain their excitement. Then they discovered there was also a pool, which made their day.

The staff greeted us warmly and showed us to our accommodations, the High Rock King Studio at the nearby High Rock Guest Condos. The suite was beautiful, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. Featuring a king-size poster bed, living area, kitchenette, and a stunning renovated bathroom, it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The condo blends historic charm with modern comfort. The soaring cathedral ceilings with exposed beams, refinished wide pine floors, and large stone fireplace gave the space so much character. The Boho-inspired décor created a relaxing atmosphere, and we appreciated all the thoughtful touches, from the fluffy towels and comfortable bedding to the beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers available for guests to borrow.

One of my favorite features was the private brick patio overlooking Main Street and Ogunquit Village. It was the perfect spot to sit and soak in the energy of town while still enjoying a little privacy.

As evening approached, we worked up an appetite and headed into town for dinner. Another perk of staying at the Abalonia Inn is just how walkable everything is. We strolled through town, stopping in a few cute shops along the way, before arriving at Cornerstone Artisanal Pizza. The staff was wonderful, and we shared a delicious pizza that hit the spot after a busy day of exploring.

To walk off dinner, we made our way down to Ogunquit Beach. There's something special about ending the day with a walk along the shoreline, listening to the waves and feeling the ocean breeze. Afterward, we headed back to our suite, cuddled up together, and ended the night with a movie.

The next morning, we walked to The Backyard Coffee & Eatery for breakfast. It was the perfect start to another beautiful day in Ogunquit and another reminder of how convenient the location of the Abalonia Inn really is.

Before heading home, we made sure to take advantage of the amenities one last time. The kids spent the morning bouncing between the pool and hot tub, and honestly, I wasn't complaining either. It was such a relaxing way to wrap up our stay and gave us a little extra vacation time before getting back on the road.

Between the comfortable accommodations, welcoming staff, family-friendly amenities, and unbeatable location, our stay at the Abalonia Inn was everything we could have hoped for. If you're planning a trip to Ogunquit and want a place that allows you to easily experience the best of the town, I highly recommend adding the Abalonia Inn to your list.
