SEA LOVE - FREEPORT, ME

If you’re looking for a fun, unique girls’ day activity in Maine, let me introduce you to one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had lately—scent blending at Sea Love.

When my friend April and I arrived, I immediately realized this was more than just a candle shop.

The space was filled with adorable clothing, beautifully curated products, and body care items like scrubs that made it feel part boutique, part experience.

We were greeted by a lovely employee who brought us over to the scent bar where all the magic happens. First things first—we suited up in the cutest aprons, which instantly made us feel official and ready to create.

We learned how to properly smell the scents (yes, there’s a technique!). Instead of smelling directly from the bottles, you use the cork tops. And when testing combinations, you stack the corks and gently wave them side to side in front of your nose. It was such a simple trick, but it made a huge difference.

And let me tell you—every single scent smelled amazing. Some were exactly what you’d expect… and some completely surprised me. The “earth” scent, for example, somehow smelled exactly like earth. Hard to explain, but spot on.

While April carefully curated her scent, I… went rogue. Without overthinking it, I chose: Grapefruit, Sea Breeze, Toasted Marshmallow I know—sounds like a wild mix, right? 😂

We had the option to make either a candle or a diffuser, and after hearing a little insider tip that diffusers last longer, we both went that route. We picked out our glass containers, chose our diffuser top colors, and got to work mixing our custom blends. They even gave you little labels you can decorate with markers. While Aprils logo was giving boutique chic, mine was giving preschool masterpiece haha

I now have my diffuser sitting in my bathroom, and I have to say… I’m genuinely shocked at how good it smells. Somehow, that random combination came together into something fresh, cozy, and totally unique. Beyond the experience itself, the shop is full of must-have items. We both grabbed car air fresheners, and I’m already obsessed. You can tell they’re high quality and made to last. I’ll definitely be going back for more.

All in all, this was the perfect girls’ day activity. It was creative, relaxing, and honestly just fun. And the best part? You leave with something you actually use and love—a custom scent that makes your home smell amazing.
